NAN BRENZEL, EdD

Nan Brenzel holds a doctorate in counseling and research from West Virginia University. She has practiced the healing arts and meditation since age five. For over 14 years, Nan has studied martial arts (Wing Chun, Kuntaw, KaliSilat, Escrima and the Bias Tres Manos System of Filipino martial arts) along with Chi Gong and a special emphasis on self-defense, health and healing. Focused on the impact of sensitivity and energy awareness in multiple martial arts, Nan is also a Reiki Master. She has studied combat and tactical techniques and is no stranger to edged weapons. Nan believes that trusting our first instinct is crucial because it is our own personal communication system regarding what is real and surrounding us at the moment. She is dedicated to the principle that we do not rise to the occasion in danger; rather we rise to the level of our training.

Nan's experience includes designing and conducting international and regional training for executives, administrators, human service providers, institutions, hospitals, parents, educators and religious communities. She has disseminated research findings; developed print, software, audio-and virtual training materials; provided management and program evaluation consultation and technical assistance to rehabilitation and medical facilities throughout the nation; taught graduate, undergraduate, high school classes as well as extensive education classes with special populations; and she has developed several international models in health/fitness.

She has coached professional athletes, provided program evaluation and management information services for the U.S. Department of Education, Department of Human Resources and Department of Vocational Rehabilitation as well as conducted research, training and program evaluation for 84 state rehabilitation agencies. Nan has coached behavior change strategies for executives and mangers at Chevron, PG&E and McKesson Corporation. Her training materials have been used in the UK, Taiwan, Germany, Israel, and Russia and throughout the US.
